Speaker: Mas Mahathir, 2nd Place, 2025 World Champion of Public Speaking (WCPS).

Ideas can only turn into impact through habits.

Core Concepts

  • Microhabit: It’s the small action that matters.
  • Atomic Habits (James Clear):
    • Small consistent actions can compound into transformation.
    • Don’t rely on motivation, build a system.

The 4 Laws of Behavioral Change

To build identity-based habits, follow these laws:

  1. Make it Obvious: Set a clear CUE for your new behavior.
  2. Make it Easy: Start with small easy steps first.
  3. Make it Attractive: Make the outcome meaningful enough to fight for.
  4. Make it Satisfying: Find a way to reinforce the habit, through tracking/rewarding, to keep the habit consistent.

Implementation Framework

”Change it!” (Identity Shift)

Shift from wanting an outcome to becoming the person who produces it:

  • From: “I want to be a World Champion speaker.” → To: “I am a speaker who trains like a World Champion.”
  • From: “I want my team to be motivated.” → To: “I am a leader who inspires action.”
  • From: “I want more members to renew their membership.” → To: “I am a leader who creates so much value to my members.”

Identity-Based Habit Formula

“I am a [Identity] who [Supporting Action], and over the next [Timeframe] days, I will [Specific Action] so that [Outcome/Value].”

Examples:

  • “I am a business owner who makes decisions with clarity, courage, and consistency.”
  • “I am a leader who develops and empowers my team.”
  • “I am a Toastmaster who turns evaluations into action.”
  • “I am a speaker who trains like a World Champion.”
  • Practical Application: “I am a leader who empowers others, and over the next 30 days, I will recognize my team members when they take initiative, so that they continue to be proactive and motivated.”

The Most Important Thing

Desire: It must be strong and clear.

  • Habit Loop: Cue → Craving → Response → Reward.
