The Pendulum Method

Personal Opinion Questions (e.g., “Do you agree that…?”)
- Discuss Pros/Cons, Benefits/Detriments.
- Finally weigh them (usually reducing the cons).
Personal Experience Questions (e.g., “Tell me a time you overcame obstacles.”)
Hypothetical Questions (e.g., “How would you plan a holiday for family in 2 weeks?“)

4 Types of People

Lion: Meticulous – plans every step.
Dolphin: Spontaneous – doesn’t plan, sees on that day.
Bear: People-oriented – as long as you are happy.
Wolf: Creative.

PEEL Technique (Open-ended Questions)

Point: One sentence.
Explanation
Example: Story.
Link: Conclude.

Using Interrogative Pronouns (5W 1H)

Ask your mind: Who, Why, What, Where, When, How?

Storytelling in Impromptu

Tell a story and make a point.
Use a story to buy extra time to think – can cut it halfway if needed.

Clarity is King, Delivery is Queen.

Workshop Exercise: “Happiness”

Approach:

Tell a story.
Form a sentence (e.g., “Money can buy happiness”).

Contrast Technique:

Audience expects something happy.
Contrast with something unexpected (e.g., Failure, obstacles).

Sign Posting:

Say what you are about to say -> Say it -> Conclude.
