๐Ÿ“ Thoughts & Reflections

  • Shingu is a quiet, small town but features great viewpoints like the castle ruins.
  • The hike up the Shingu Castle Ruins is brief but pays off with a great 360-degree view of the river, town, and ocean.

Next stop on my Kumano pilgrimage (after Kumano Nachi Taisha): Kumano Hayatama Taisha in Shingu City, utilizing my base in Kii Katsuura ๐ŸŒฟโ›ฉ๏ธ

Hayatama Taisha sits in a peaceful riverside area, right in the heart of Shingu. Shingu itself is a small, quiet town, but it has a unique charm.

One hidden gem I really loved was the Shingu Castle Ruins. Thereโ€™s not much of the castle left, but the short hike up is totally worth it. At the top, you get a panoramic view overlooking the city, the Kumano River, and the Pacific Ocean.
